Job Summary:
Are you an industrial manufacturing professional? Would you like the opportunity to share your technical experience in a classroom and help prepare a new generation to enter your profession? If so, then Kalamazoo Valley Community College may have the ideal part-time teaching opportunity for you.
We are currently looking for three instructors who can each teach one of three classes that we are offering during the Winter 2026 semester. That semester starts on January 12 and concludes on April 27. Class details for each offering are below:
EDMT 113 Architect Blueprint Reading
This course teaches students to interpret architectural working drawings. Emphasis is placed on reading standard symbols and commercial prints. Topics include sketching, residential construction, commercial structural systems, construction scheduling, specifications, mechanical systems, welding symbols, and electrical plans.
Class Schedule: Wednesdays, 6:15 pm-9:25 pm, Texas Township Campus
EDMT 135 AutoCAD
This course gives a thorough overview of the AutoCAD software package for students and professionals, preparing them to create and edit 2D technical drawings, AutoCAD templates, and to administer basic AutoCAD systems across various industries. Topics include drawing templates, custom layers, line styles, blocks, title blocks, dimension styles, annotations, configuring plotters, paper sizes, parametric design, view ports, 3D drawing, and more. Students will develop a complete AutoCAD drawing template in this course.
Class Schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:30 pm – 8:55 pm, Texas Township Campus
EDMT 171 Parametric Design
This course focuses on modern parametric mechanical design using the SolidWorks software package. Students will become familiar with single-part models, multi-part assemblies, and part and assembly drawings. Topics include sketches, constraints, patterns, mates, section views, auxiliary views, reference geometries, measurements, dimensions, and more.

Minimum Qualifications:
- An Associates degree or 3 years of related work experience in the field is required.
- Excellent communication and classroom/group delivery skills are required.
- A commitment to teaching in a community college environment is required.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Experience teaching at the college level is preferred.
