VOLLEYBALL - Varsity Assistant Coach
Season begin date: August 2026
Season end date: October 2026
Salary: $2,845 - $3,330 DOE
Location: Kalama High School
Coaching position is not eligible for health or retirement benefits
Job Summary: This position works under the direction of the Head Coach in providing direction to student-athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork. To value and promote the worth of each participant while effectively leading players and staff to achieve their individual and collective potential. Work is performed under the direction of the Head Coach, Principal, and Athletic Director.
Qualifications:
- Per WIAA - minimum age for head coach is 21 years of age, assistant coach is 19 years of age
- Must complete SafeSchools and WIAA Final Forms training prior to the beginning of the sport\'s season
- Must pass a background check
- Current Red Cross First Aid/CPR Card
- Must be current with WIAA coaching clock hours
- Be able to pass a screening test to provide transportation for student-athletes if necessary
- Regular and punctual attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements
- Previous coaching experience preferred
- Bilingual preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Become familiar with and promote the core values of the school\'s Athletic Program
- Serve as a positive role model for students
- Responsible assisting the head coach in planning, organizing, and delivering an appropriate range of sports activities and programmes for the team
- Assist the head coach at all practices
- Assist head coach in organizing and coaching all games
- Assist with sports promotion and development
- Work to be an effective team member
- Assist with game day preparation
- Ensure that student-athletes adhere to training rules, lettering policies, grade requirements, and rules of behavior
- Ensure the continual supervision of student-athletes on the court, in conditioning, and in locker and shower rooms
- Ensure that health and safety precautions are observed during all activities
- Immediately report all major injuries incurred during practice sessions or competition to the Head Coach, Athletic Director, and Principal.
- Learn techniques, skills, philosophy, rules, and strategies
- Participate in special activities to include parent\'s night, banquets and award nights
- Perform support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records
- Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

- Travels to other school districts as required.
If you are hired for this position, you will be required to complete a background check, unless you have completed the background check in the past two years, and it is on file with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).
Retention of this position will be communicated with the individual following the postseason evaluation between the coach and KSD athletic director.
