What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgical Services Assistant position at Kaizen Surgery Center?
Brand new orthopedic ambulatory surgery center seeking an experienced Surgical Services Assistant (SSA) to join our team. The SSA will coordinate and provide patient care to both adult and pediatric patients in accordance to established and accepted standards of care, policies and procedures, state and federal regulations, and accepted accreditation standards.
Primary responsibilities of the SSA include:
- Cleans and sanitizes the OR suites after surgical procedures using proper techniques per infection control policies and procedures
- Cleans all semi-restricted and unrestricted corridors floors, walls, and ceilings as necessary
- Cleans used/ soiled equipment and places in proper storage area
- Consistently uses proper personal protective equipment ( PPE )
- Adheres to standard precautions in performing all tasks
- Cleans all assigned areas, equipment, and storage cabinets using the specialized cleaning procedures as taught in orientation to the perioperative area
- Handles chemicals and solutions per departmental policies and procedures, as well as SDS standards
- Reports the need for equipment repair or any unsafe conditions to management
- Stocks blanket warmer and linen cabinets and replenishes supplies such as paper towels, toilet tissue, and soap
- Brings supplies and equipment to area as needed
- Ability to adapt routine and schedule based on OR usage that may require multiple cleanings during the shift
- Assists and acts as an Environmental Service Technician
- Assists the Materials Manager with receiving and stocking supplies
The SSA must have a minimum of two years’ experience in the surgical suite and BLS is required. The successful candidate must have the ability to work independently as well as function within a team, and have the abilities to assess patient needs, determine priorities, present good public relation skills, and handle stress.
