What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reinstatement/Payoff Legal Assistant position at Kahane & Associates, P.A.?
Kahane & Associates, an award-winning law firm is seeking an entry level clerk with background in banking, real estate and/or accounting. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 1 year experience in a professional setting and the capacity to review and understand borrower account statements for the purpose of preparing account reinstatement and/or payoff statements.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare payoff and reinstatement letters pursuant to firm procedures and in compliance with the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act and client requirements;
- Review and calculate escrow breakdown, judgment figures and foreclosure fees and costs;
- Handle all incoming calls in reference to reinstatement and payoff matters;
- Reviewing status of foreclosure matters, ensuring that accurate fees and cost quotes are provided; and
- Providing file updates in client communication portals and uploading required documents.
Ideal applicant must be dependable, professional, well spoken with great people and phone etiquette skills. Also must be knowledgeable with the use of Microsoft Office Products. Strong knowledge of mortgage foreclosure process is a plus.
