What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Buyer position at KAD Staffing?
JOB PURPOSE:
The Senior Buyer will monitor, maintain, and ensure optimal inventory for raw materials, finished parts, and non-production procurement. This position will be highly involved in an integrated communication chain with Scheduling and Customer Service to manage potential shortages or schedule changes, resulting in the pursuit of expedites or push outs; validating and pursing alternative sourcing as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Description of Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Ensures components and raw materials are purchased cost effectively and in a timely manner with knowledge of industry lead times to support customer requirements.
2. Maintains adequate inventory levels by monitoring and replenishing as necessary. Regular Order Point and Lead Time Analysis to be sure ordering the correct quantity at the right time.
3. Monitors delivery commitments to ensure timely delivery to meet customer requirements and expedites orders as required. Follow up on past due, unconfirmed, and future dated Purchase Orders to ensure accurate visibility to sales and production.
4. Develops and maintains systems to: a. Negotiate max discounts, terms, and rebate programs with key vendors. b. Analyze inventory levels to increase or decrease stocking levels based on prior usage, estimated future usage based or firm orders or stocking agreements.
5. Update Business Central ERP with current pricing and quantity discounts as required.
6. Communicates on a regular basis purchasing issues that are affecting open shop and customer orders along with strategies to implement solutions. Work with Sales and Engineering on standard and substitute product options.
7. Reviews and approves purchasing requests received from various departments.
8. Establishes and implements vendor rating systems to ensure on time delivery and other key metrics.
9. Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors.
10. Lead Purchasing Team on special projects and initiatives
11. Participates in additional activities contributing to the overall goals of the company as the opportunities arise.
