About the Role:
As an Assembly Technician at Ashland Industries, you play a crucial role in the construction and assembly of heavy-duty earthmoving equipment. Your responsibilities involve the hands-on assembly of various components, ensuring precision, quality, and adherence to engineering specifications. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing reliable machinery.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assemble scrapers, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical parts, ensuring accurate alignment and proper fitting according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Adhere to safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) such safety glasses, steel toed boots, hearing protection, and respiratory protection when needed- (welding, painting)
- Conduct inspections of assembled components to ensure they meet quality standards and address discrepancies or defects.
- Use hand and power tools to assemble components, performing routine maintenance to keep tools in good working condition.
- Assist in the final inspection of fully assembled equipment to ensure quality standards before delivery into the final QC bay.
- Ensure all work orders scheduled are properly punch in/out using the Genius software.
- Effective time management is expected daily to achieve efficiencies and expected output.
- Daily clock ins are required using ADP, along with vacation requests, PTO requests.
- Be punctual and attentive
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must be able to read and understand assembly drawings before assembling products.
- Able to maintain a high level of quality throughout all assemblies.
- Follow the company’s safety standards and policies.
- Ability to complete and pass; WHMIS, SWPs, understand thoroughly the emergency procedures, and first aid procedures.
- Pass a verbal and mechanical test for use of an overhead crane 5&10 ton.
- Be physically able to lift 50lbs
- Someone who has good attention to detail and follows direction thoroughly.
- Excellent communications skills and the ability to work independently.
- Good time management skills.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Grade 12 High School or post-secondary education diploma is appreciated
- Any previous experience within an assembly manufacturing facility is an asset.
- Proficient mechanical skills considered an asset.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to lift and carry weight up to 50lbs
- Frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Exposure to low/high temperatures and potentially hazardous fumes, requiring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to perform physical labor in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while adhering to safety protocols
