Kennel Technician

K9 Guide Dog Training LLC
Akron, OH Part Time
POSTED ON 10/19/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/18/2026

About us
Hiring dog lovers and pet professionals!

Easdale Best Pet Care has cared for dogs and cats on four acres in Bath Township since 1933. K9 Guide is a dog training business on the same property, and the two work closely together. This role supports both! Your days will include boarding care, bathing, and helping with dogs in training, including nervous, shy, and reactive dogs that need a calm, consistent handler.

Weekends and holidays are required. Short morning and/or evening shifts. Animals need care every day, so dependable attendance is essential. A great fit for students, early risers, or anyone looking for steady part-time hours around another schedule!

What you’ll do

  • Own the cleanliness of the kennel. You’ll keep runs, kennels, cat condos, and common areas clean, disinfected, and up to standard every shift. A clean facility keeps animals healthy, and this role is directly accountable for it.
  • Feed, water, and give medications to dogs and cats according to each pet’s care plan
  • Bathe dogs, both boarding guests and the dogs in training
  • Take dogs out for potty breaks, exercise, playtime, and trail walks in all weather
  • Watch for signs of illness or stress, such as changes in appetite, behavior, or stool, and report concerns promptly
  • Pitch in on laundry, dishes, restocking, and general property upkeep
  • Keep accurate care records, medication logs, and treatment notes
  • Assist trainers with dogs in the training program
  • Check pets in and out, and talk with owners in a friendly, professional way

What we’re looking for

  • Someone who takes pride in a clean kennel and keeps that standard every shift, not just when someone’s watching
  • Reliable and on time. Pets depend on a set schedule, so we do too.
  • Self-motivated. You notice what needs doing and do it without being told.
  • Genuinely comfortable handling dogs of all sizes, breeds, temperaments, and stages of training, safely and confidently.
  • Calm and patient with fearful or reactive animals.
  • Ready for a physical job. You’ll be on your feet the full shift and lifting 50 lbs repeatedly: food bags, water buckets, equipment, and dogs.
  • Prepared to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and snow. A big part of this job happens outside no matter the forecast.
  • Good communication, attention to detail, and a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to follow care protocols and work well as part of a team
  • 18 or older, with reliable transportation

Nice to have

  • Prior kennel experience or a background in animal husbandry (highly preferred)
  • Experience in a shelter, vet clinic, grooming shop, or rescue/foster home
  • Familiarity with canine body language or dog training

Room to grow
We like to promote from within!!! Technicians who show strong handling skills, dependability, and a real interest in dog behavior can move into a trainer role over time. You’ll also get hands-on experience across boarding, bathing, and training that’s hard to find in one place. This is a great opportunity to build your skillset if you want to work in the pet care field.

To apply: Submit your resume and a cover letter about your experience with animals. Make sure to include your availability. Tuesday evening availability a must for this position.
