We are seeking a highly motivated Biologist II to join the Quantitative Translational and ADME Sciences (QTAS) department at AbbVie Bioresearch Center in Worcester, MA. Position: Biologist II
Position Overview
The Ligand Binding Assay (LBA) Operations Bioanalytical Team performs quantitative bioanalysis of large-molecule therapeutics including monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), ADCs, AOCs, fusion proteins, and bispecifics to support PK, PD, and TK studies.
The successful candidate will perform pre-clinical sample analysis using hybrid manual and automated ligand binding assays while supporting assay development, data reporting, and laboratory operations in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently plan and execute bioanalytical sample analysis using multiple biological matrices including serum and tissue lysates
- Perform ligand binding assays (PK, PD, TK, ADA) using Meso Scale Discovery (MSD) platforms
- Generate high-quality bioanalytical data to support drug discovery and development programs
- Analyze and interpret assay results and adjust analysis strategies as needed
- Support ligand binding assay development, troubleshooting, validation, and transfer activities
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within ELN and rLIMS systems
- Prepare, review, and report bioanalytical data packages for downstream analysis
- Support laboratory operations including equipment maintenance and reagent/sample inventory management
- Present experimental plans, data, and findings during team meetings and cross-functional discussions
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacology, or related scientific discipline
- Minimum:
- 2 years of pharmaceutical/biotechnology experience with an MS degree
- 4 years of pharmaceutical/biotechnology experience with a BS degree
- Hands-on experience with ligand binding assay workflows including ELISA and MSD platforms
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities
- Ability to independently operate and maintain laboratory equipment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with technical reporting experience
- Experience with data analysis software, Excel, ELN, and LIMS systems
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience independently developing ligand binding assays
- Experience with laboratory automation systems and workflows
- Experience supporting bioanalytical operations within pharmaceutical or biotechnology environments
