Job Title: Freelance Executive Producer, k2 Americas
Reporting to: Melody Delia, Managing Director, k2 Americas
Office: California / West Coast - remote
Duration: Six months
k2 is a global luxury brand experience and experiential events agency, part of The Independents Group. Our network of expert strategists, designers, planners, and producers work tirelessly to deliver exceptional results and establish long-term partnerships with our clients across fashion, beauty, and luxury.
To support our continued growth, we are looking for a Freelance Executive Producer to join k2 Americas and supervise all aspects of large-scale event production, from conception through execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Production & Execution
Lead the execution of large and/or complex B2B projects from conception through on-site delivery.
Lead kick-off meetings, defining roles, and responsibilities for the project team.
Lead development of production schedules, project documents, and organization of information.
Oversee and maintain knowledge of all production and technical elements, including event design and layout, staging, lighting, sound, scenic elements, guest flow, and timing.
Look for innovative solutions to production methods and overall event development.
Participate in creative development to ensure ideas are executable and aligned with client vision.
Client & Team Management
Serve as a key contact for client communications, demonstrating strong relationship skills and a service mentality.
Organize and manage communications between all international events team members (based in South America, Europe and Asia).
Manage freelance resources across the project team.
Oversee large project teams, providing day-to-day direction and ensuring clarity of roles.
Provide multiple options for solutions and a proactive, solution-driven approach across all projects.
Act as the escalation point for both clients and internal teams, anticipating needs and proactively managing resources.
Budget & Project Health
Oversee budget management and ensure overall project health throughout the lifecycle of each event.
Maintain accurate financial records, communicating budget updates, and critical financial concerns to management.
Identify opportunities for added value while ensuring overall project profitability.
Team Development
Develop production talent within the team, providing mentorship, leadership, and coaching.
Lead by example, maintaining a motivated, professional team committed to delivering exceptional client service.
Promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and consistent standards of service across teams.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
10 years of proven event production experience required.
5–7 years of management or supervisory experience.
Strong project management skills with proven ability to lead teams.
Leadership and coaching skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Extraordinary organizational skills, self-motivation, and intuition.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agency environment.
Excellent computer skills across Microsoft and Apple applications, team project software, and social media platforms.
Thorough understanding of permitting standards (including but not limited to TPA, Special Event, Fire, Health & Safety, Building & Safety, Noise, etc.) and ability to successfully oversee production timelines and needs related to permit procurement.
Ability to effectively manage tasks across multiple projects and various clients simultaneously.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident
