Position Summary
The Live Scan Fingerprinting Technician/Office Assistant at K & T Security Services, LLC, is responsible for providing professional and accurate fingerprinting services using the State of Maryland and FBI-compliant Live Scan system. This role ensures the integrity of background check processes for individuals, employers, and agencies while upholding the highest standards of compliance, confidentiality, and customer service. The technician also supports other administrative duties, including assisting with notary and public services offered through the company.
Key Responsibilities
Fingerprinting & Compliance
- Perform Live Scan fingerprinting services in accordance with Maryland Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS), FBI, and Department of Public Safety standards.
- Accurately verify customer identity through valid government-issued photo identification.
- Collect, input, and submit fingerprint data electronically to the appropriate state or federal agencies.
- Maintain secure custody of all personal information and ensure strict confidentiality.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure fingerprints meet agency standards; troubleshoot and resubmit if necessary.
Customer Service
- Greet and assist clients in a professional manner, providing clear instructions regarding the fingerprinting process.
- Review and ensure completion of Live Scan Request forms prior to processing.
- Provide fee information, process payments, and issue receipts.
- Assist with inquiries about background check status and procedures while maintaining compliance with confidentiality policies.
Administrative Support
- Maintain daily logs of fingerprinting activity, including customer details, services rendered, and payments received.
- Support office functions, including scheduling, filing, answering the phones, and reporting.
- Assist with providing notary services, ensuring all notarizations comply with Maryland state law.
- Coordinate with management regarding service issues, equipment malfunctions, or customer complaints.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and updated.
- Report system or operational issues immediately to the Office Manager.
- Uphold company standards of professionalism, accuracy, and compliance at all times.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in customer service, clerical/administrative work, or law enforcement support preferred.
- Experience with Live Scan fingerprinting equipment preferred (training will be provided if necessary).
- Notary Public certification in the State of Maryland (or willingness to obtain) strongly preferred.
Skills & Competencies

- Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, and database entry).

Physical & Other Requirements
- Must pass a background check and obtain/maintain clearance from Maryland CJIS and FBI.
- Ability to sit, stand, and operate fingerprinting equipment for extended periods.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as business needs require.
Salary : $18 - $22
