Job Description
Mainframe Automation System Programmer with 5 years of experience in z/OS system programming and enterprise automation, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automation solutions across IBM mainframe environments. The role focuses on reducing manual effort, improving reliability, and enhancing operational efficiency across z/OS, DB2, IMS, CICS, MQ, and JES2/3 platforms. The candidate will build automation scripts, self-healing frameworks, monitoring solutions, and ensure audit-compliant operations using modern DevOps practices.
Must-have Skills
- 5 years of Mainframe System Programming experience
- Strong automation experience in z/OS environments
- Proficiency in Rexx, CLIST, JCL
- IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS / TWS)
- Experience with z/OS subsystems: DB2, IMS, CICS, MQ, JES2/3
- WTOR handling and command automation
- Event-driven automation and triggers
- Git / Version Control
- Mainframe DevOps practices
- Monitoring and system recovery automation
- Audit, compliance, and security controls
- Documentation / runbooks / rollback planning
Good-to-have Skills
- Ansible for z/OS
- Python for z/OS automation
- REST API integration with enterprise tools
- OMEGAMON / IBM Z Monitoring Suite
- RMF / SMF performance monitoring
