Tree Climber

Job Summary:

K&J Tree Service is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tree Climber to join our team. This is a critical role within our field operations, responsible for executing technical tree removals and pruning with precision, safety, and efficiency.

This position is well-suited for a climber who takes pride in their craft, works with confidence in complex and high-risk scenarios, and understands that performance in the tree sets the tone for the entire crew. The ideal candidate operates with a high level of awareness, communicates effectively with the ground team, and consistently demonstrates control, efficiency, and professionalism in all aspects of tree work.

Responsibilities:

· Perform tree climbing operations for removals, pruning, and technical dismantling.

· Execute rigging and lowering techniques in a safe and controlled manner.

· Operate chainsaws in the tree with precision and awareness.

· Assess tree structure, hazards, and work zones to plan safe and efficient execution.

· Communicate clearly with ground crew to coordinate cuts, rigging, and workflow.

· Work in coordination with crane operators during crane-assisted removals.

· Maintain control of all materials being cut and lowered from the tree.

· Ensure all climbing gear, rigging equipment, and saws are properly maintained and inspected.

· Follow all company safety protocols and ANSI standards.

· Work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.

Requirements:

· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL is a plus).

· Minimum of three years of experience in tree climbing and removal operations.

· Proven ability to perform technical removals, including rigging and sectional dismantling.

· Strong knowledge of knots, rigging systems, and climbing techniques.

· Experience working with cranes is preferred.

· High level of situational awareness and commitment to safety.

· Physically capable of climbing, lifting, and working at heights throughout the day.

· Ability to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.

· Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.

· Positive attitude and strong work ethic

Compensation/Benefits:

· The employee will be paid $28-40 based on Experience and Skillset.

· The employee can enter our company retirement program with a 3% company match after a 90-day probation period.

· The employee can enter our company medical insurance program with 50% coverage paid by K&J (dental and vision are also available) after a 90-day probation period.

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM (overtime available and encouraged).

Pay: $28.00 - $40.00 per hour
