Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care for animals in our facility, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. This role requires a love for animals, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The Kennel Assistant will play a vital role in maintaining a clean and organized kennel while assisting with various tasks related to animal care.
Duties
- Provide daily care for dogs and other animals, including feeding, watering, and exercising them.
- Maintain cleanliness of the kennel area by regularly cleaning and disinfecting cages, runs, and common areas.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to the veterinary staff or management.
- Assist with dog training and basic obedience commands as needed.
- Provide animal restraint during veterinary examinations or treatments.
- Support pet grooming activities including bathing and brushing as required.
- Engage with pet owners to provide excellent customer service and address any questions or concerns.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as record keeping related to animal care.
- Perform heavy lifting when necessary, including moving animals or supplies.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in animal handling or care is preferred; kennel experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of dog training techniques and basic veterinary practices is beneficial.
- Experience as a veterinary technician or assistant is highly desirable.
- Strong skills in customer service and communication.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks associated with animal care.
- A genuine love for animals along with patience and compassion in handling them.
