We are seeking a Category Manager to support the children’s licensed publishing and book business for a global consumer products and publishing team within a leading media and entertainment organization. This role manages key licensed publisher relationships and contributes to overall category strategies across a diverse portfolio of iconic brands and intellectual property spanning theatrical, television, animation, and more. The ideal candidate brings experience in publishing, entertainment licensing, or consumer products, along with a strong understanding of the retail landscape, market trends, and the kids through adult book space.
What You’ll Do
- Manage assigned licensed publishers, including publishing plans, forecasts, marketing efforts, promotions, retailer presentations, and communications
- Support and grow licensee relationships in close partnership with Editorial and Creative teams
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Franchise, Legal, Creative, and Retail/Sales to develop and execute initiatives
- Participate in internal and external business reviews, strategy discussions, and formal presentations
- Support annual revenue planning, quarterly forecasting, and budgeting processes
- Assist in developing and executing 1–3 year category strategies
- Identify white‑space opportunities and support new initiatives
- Coordinate deal terms and assist with contract language reviews and modifications
- Leverage industry insights and data to inform strategy and competitive positioning
- Support day‑to‑day operational needs in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in Book Publishing, Entertainment Licensing, Consumer Products, or related fields
- Strong marketing, sales, negotiation, and communication skills
- Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and collaborate across teams
- Experience creating presentations, pitches, and solution‑oriented materials
- Proficiency with PowerPoint; strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Teams, and Zoom
- Bachelor’s degree in Publishing, Business, Marketing, or a related field
