Must be at least 18 years of age. A valid driver's license with no restriction must be maintained. Qualified status under Minnesota Rule 11 must be maintained (Criminal background studies of individual affiliated with programs licensed by DHS). Ability to become certified to administer medications and to maintain that certification as a condition of continued employment. Completion of initial training requirements and continued training in accordance with RSI staff training policies and applicable licensing rules and statutes. Ability to read and write printed English at a minimum 12th-grade reading level. Ability to stand/walk for extended periods, walk up and down stairs and run short distances. Ability to?assist?people with physical activities and perform tasks that require lifting and transferring 25-100 pounds with?person supported?or staff assistance,?pushing/pulling 25-100 pounds,?bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping, carrying objects,?twisting/turning, manual dexterity, and operating assistive equipment.? Strong written and verbal communication skills.? Must be able to maintain composure and professionalism in stressful situations. Good organizational and time management skills. Ability to monitor, assess and help resolve conflict. Ability to model positive work performance. Exceptions to the above essential requirements must be approved by the Senior Director and Human Resources Director. Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): RCS/IRTS Mental Health Practitioner Responsibilities: Work cooperatively with the treatment team in developing, implementing, and evaluating treatment programs and documentation. Complete treatment plans, functional assessments, individual abuse prevention plans, level of care assessments and discharge summaries and plans, ensuring that they are implemented, reviewed, revised as necessary and reported on as required by licenser/certification standard. Assist in the orientation and training of new staff. Provide direct observation of and review progress notes for Mental Health Rehabilitation Workers providing treatment services. Participate in the after hours on-call rotation. RCS/IRTS Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker Responsibilities: Report to scheduled shifts, training sessions and staff meetings as assigned and in accordance with the Staffing and Attendance policy. Work collaboratively with the person and their support team members (e.g. Case manager, co-workers, family/friends) to implement individual support plans following ethical standards of practice (e.g., confidentiality, informed consent) when providing and facilitating services to individuals. Encourage consumer empowerment by promoting individual participation in support service development and provide service recipients with mental illness symptom management and relapse prevention skills to enable them to manage their mental illness. Provide services that are rehabilitative and enable the recipient to develop and enhance psychiatric stability, social competencies, personal and emotional adjustment and independent living and community skills. Provide supervision, assistance, and training to meet the physical and personal needs of people receiving services (e.g., health, grooming, bathing, toileting, eating, socialization) and encourage independence. Provide appropriate supervision and crisis prevention intervention and resolution techniques, following agency policies and procedures, risk management plans and individual support plans. Safely monitor and guide the activities of each person, taking into account the person s level of behavioral and psychiatric stability, cultural needs, and vulnerabilities. Provide supervision, assistance, and training to individuals in meeting their medical and healthcare needs. Promote health and wellness of all people receiving services through health maintenance and prevention strategies such as proper diet and exercise. Provide accurate medication administration and documentation i accordance with RSI s policies. Assist people receiving services with household responsibilities (e.g. shopping, meal preparation, laundry, cleaning, budgeting, banking) and transportation allowing them to achieve maximum independence based upon individual skills and abilities. Complete assigned household and farm tasks, including caring for animals and barn chores. Maintain a clean and safe living environment for people receiving services. Use sensitive communication skills to build rapport and open channels of communication acknowledging the person s ideas and concerns and responding in an appropriate and respectful manner. Respond to the needs, desires and interests of people receiving services through proper review, implementation and assessment of services, in accordance with the individual treatment support plans, providing continuous feedback. Provide support to individuals in identifying, planning, and connecting with community activities and aftercare resources. Network with other service organizations to identify and overcome obstacles or barriers and enhance community resource utilization. Support individuals in building and strengthening skills necessary to develop and maintain friendships and other personal relationships promoting healthy lifestyles Support individuals in building and strengthening skills necessary to develop and maintain friendships and other personal relationships promoting healthy lifestyles. Serve as an advocate for individuals by understanding and communicating their needs, wants and choices. Provide vocational, education and career support based upon the individual needs of the person. Attend trainings and meetings as outlined in the Staff Training policy in accordance with applicable licensing rules and statutes. Represent RSI in a professional, responsible and respectful manner in accordance with the organizational mission and philosophy while adhering to agency policies and procedures at all times. Complete thorough and accurate documentation ensuring all documentation is completed within required time frames. Provide quality documentation using specific, objective and descriptive language respecting individual confidentiality at all times. Report improper or suspicious behavior, misconduct of co-workers, and any/all suspected violations of policy to a supervisor within 24 hours of becoming aware of the problem. Maintain knowledge of general health and safety rules, first aid, CPR and emergency procedures. Maintain professional manner at all times, serving as a positive role model for individuals and respecting professional boundaries in the workplace. Respond to stressful situations in a calm and professional manner. Establish trust with individuals by developing positive and helpful relationships through courteous and respectful interactions. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all team members including co-workers, subordinates, peers, supervisors, family members, guardians, etc. sharing information with others as needed. Participate in clinical supervision with a Mental Health Professional as required. Other duties as assigned.
