ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:
Junior Achievement’s (JA) purpose is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. JA reaches students annually in relevant, hands-on learning experiences that teach young people to manage their money, plan for their economic future, own businesses, and develop readiness for careers or college.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Grant Writer is responsible for managing the full grant lifecycle, including prospect research, proposal development, submission, reporting, and stewardship. This role supports funding for JA’s financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship programs across the region.
This is a part-time 20–25 hour per week position and reports to the Director of Corporate Partnerships.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and submit 35 grants per fiscal year.
- Use multiple online grant systems to submit proposals aligned with Junior Achievement’s programs
- Manage awarded grants, including compliance, data collection, and final reporting deadlines
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with foundation contacts as needed to strengthen financial support
- Utilize JA USA platforms to gather student and program data for proposals and reports
- Adapt existing program budgets for individual grant applications and reporting needs
- Research and identify new grant opportunities using Instrumentl and other grant management tools
- Stay current on JA USA curriculum and program updates to ensure proposals accurately reflect JA OKI offerings; participate in weekly meetings with the Education Team
- Manage JA USA pass-through grants as required
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as English, Communications, or Journalism
- 5-7 years of successful grant writing experience
- 3-5 years of successful relationship building with funders
- Experience with CRM systems, such as Blackbaud, Salesforce, and Instrumentl
- Demonstrated success in meeting deadlines and exceeding goals
- Strong interpersonal, telephone, written, and presentation skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidential information
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
