Key Responsibilities
Are you passionate about creating an engaging, supportive, and inclusive environment for students? Juniata College, located in the scenic mountains of central Pennsylvania, is looking for a dynamic and compassionate Residential Life Coordinator (RLC) to join our vibrant community. As a Residential Life Coordinator at Juniata, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the residential experience for our diverse student body, fostering personal growth, community-building, and academic success. The RLC strives to make a meaningful impact in a close-knit liberal arts environment of approximately 1300 students by helping create a living-learning experience that empowers students to thrive. You will work directly with students, staff, and faculty to promote community building, student success, and personal growth. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual passionate about student development, community building, and creating a positive campus culture.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a vision for the holistic student experience that reflects the mission, strategic plan and values of the College.
  • Support program development that captures opportunities, aligns with enrollment and retention goals, and creates dynamic living experiences that support and delight students’ outcomes and interests.
  • Foster belonging and community with a demonstrated commitment to valuing people relationally and individually. Support development of self-efficacy, identity and leadership through individual, policy and institutional influence. Promote community unity and personal well-being.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of a residential hall or area, ensuring a positive, supportive, and inclusive environment for all residents.
  • Supervise, train, and support a team of Resident Assistants (RAs) and student employees, helping them to develop leadership skills and facilitate peer success in our residential and campus communities.
  • Serve as a primary resource for students, getting to know them individually as relationships emerge and develop, and then seeking to address concerns, offer guidance, and overcome obstacles in a fair and empathetic manner.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and student leaders to enhance the overall student experience both in and outside of the residence halls.
  • Provide on-call support for emergencies and student needs, ensuring a 24/7 presence when required.
  • Promote and uphold residence hall policies and procedures to ensure safety, well-being, and respect within the residential community. In partnership with the Director of Rights and Responsibilities, serve as an administrator and hearing officer for assigned accountability and conduct situations.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of residence hall milestones and events, such as move-in day, special programming, and end-of-year celebrations.
  • Foster a living-learning environment where students thrive academically and socially by offering resources and support for both academic and personal challenges.

Juniata College is committed to cultivating an equity-minded and equity-engaged campus culture, one that is inclusive and supportive of its students, faculty, and staff. We believe that all members of the College community share the responsibility to value diversity, seek equity, promote a sense of belonging.
