Description
This position provides administrative and program support to the human resources department; and provides responsive, courteous, and efficient customer service in support of departmental operations.
Examples of Duties

- Maintains HRIS; inputs information and data.
- Maintains, personnel, medical, and confidential files of both current and former employees. Creates files for new hires.
- Provides confidential administrative support to the Human Resources Director.
- Assists new and existing employees with enrolling and managing their benefits, provides benefit orientation and manages employee benefit files.
- May process status changes and open enrollment benefit plan transfers. Ensures timely submission of all insurance and benefit documents for enrollments, changes, and terminations.
- Assists with worker’s compensation claims and liability, Makes name badges and administers the security system.

- Composes routine correspondence; proofreads and edits documents.
- Enters, scans, updates, and maintains information in spreadsheets, databases, and reports.
- Maintains electronic and paper filing and record systems to provide easy access to records and information; provides retention of records as required by Department and County policies.
- Assists with designing, creating, and editing written and electronic resource, events, or marketing materials etc.

Typical Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with two (2) years of experience in an office setting preferably with an emphasis on Human Resources or an equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered for the job.
Supplemental Information
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of public personnel administration and human resources management.
- Knowledge of administrative policies and procedures of the County.
- Knowledge of current office practices and procedures and knowledge of the operation of standard office equipment and software.
- Knowledge of county, state and federal programs pertaining to regulations and mandates under which the department functions.
- Ability to utilize various computer software programs that are department specific.
- Ability to maintain accurate records of assigned activities.
- Skill in time management; prioritizing duties to accomplish a high volume of quality work product requiring minimal supervision.
- Ability to define problems, exercise sound judgment, and address a variety of situations successfully.
- Knowledge and ability to follow the policies and practices contained in the County Personnel Handbook.
- Ability to work the allocated hours of the position and respond after hours if needed.
