What are the responsibilities and job description for the Occupational Therapist position at Junction of Function?
Position Overview:
We are seeking an OTR to help with temporary work (leaves) and a backlog of OT Assessments. The maternity leave is approximately three months and after this is completed the school will need help with a substantial amount of OT assessments. We need an OTR with an adventurous spirit and love for children. Experience in the schools preferred, but we can mentor/train a clinical pediatric occupational therapist that wants to gain experience working in the schools. Job Specifics:
The occupational therapist for this position will select and administer assessments and observations to students in accordance with their IEPs to help them thrive in every learning environment, develop evaluations and identify the next steps for student growth and well-being, assess student needs in their ongoing development, evaluate and provide intervention to students, maintain clear and organized records of each referred student, and closely collaborate with the Special Education team on student needs.
The occupational therapist shall clearly communicate with school leaders, teachers, and families about individual student’s progress and ways to assist student growth.
The OT candidate must have at least a bachelor’s degree in occupational and necessary licensing/certifications, in accordance with federal and state laws.

Job Information/Qualifications:
- Children Served: Pre-K, Elementary, Middle, and High School
- Master's or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy
- NCBOT Licensure required
- Ability to pass Background Check

- 2 years clinical experience providing therapy and evaluation services

- This is a 6-month position
Assessment:
- Collaborate with SLP/OT/School Psychologist to participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (IEP) Committee to assist in interpretation of assessment, data, appropriate placement, and goal setting for students eligible for Occupational Therapy services.
Consultation:
- Counsel and involve parents in remedial process.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and school staff to plan and implement remedial process for improvement of students’ skills.
- Provide professional development in assigned schools to help school personnel identify and understand student deficits
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents regarding needs of the student, student progress or mastery of therapy goals
Student Management:
- Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity level and interests of students
- Seek assistance form school personnel to establish and administer discipline according to the school Student Code of Conduct
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents
- Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule and board policy
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Can be physically demanding and requires attention to detail and intense concentration.
- The emotional needs of students and their families may be demanding.
- Medium work: Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects
- Jobholder works with students in an office or classroom environment.
- The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
