This role requires excellent communication and collaboration skills, as the engineer will work closely with production teams and serve as the primary engineering representative supporting manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze production non-conformances, conduct root cause analysis, and develop engineering dispositions.
- Apply design principles to assess and resolve product and process issues throughout the product lifecycle.
- Research technical, operational, and quality concerns to develop and implement effective engineering solutions.
- Identify and document issues, analyze reported problems, and communicate deviations that may impact design intent, quality, or safety.
- Recommend, coordinate, and manage corrective actions and resolutions.
- Develop and implement product and process improvements to enhance manufacturing efficiency and quality.
- Support Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and participate in design reviews.
- Represent engineering throughout initial build, production, and post-production activities.
- Ensure supplier and manufacturing partner compliance with established engineering and quality standards.
- Develop technical correspondence to support the continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Participate in on-site repair teams, product recovery efforts, and accident investigation activities.
- Evaluate damage repairs and structural modifications, determining appropriate support methods to ensure safe working conditions and prevent collateral damage.
- Design interim structural repairs and perform static strength analyses.
- Develop non-destructive testing (NDT) procedures, tools, and standards.
- Participation in an approximately 9-month engineering training rotation program is required.
- Assignments may include first, second, or third shift schedules, as well as weekend and overtime support based on business needs.
- Shift and overtime requirements vary by site and are generally managed through a rotational process.
- Travel between manufacturing sites within the Puget Sound region may be required during the training period.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited or equivalent engineering program.
- 20 years of experience in structures, systems, design, or production engineering.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills within a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and production personnel.
- Extensive senior-level experience in structures, systems, design, or production engineering.
- Hands-on experience with materials engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Experience supporting production and manufacturing operations in a high-volume industrial environment.
