What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Industrial Engineer position at Judge Consulting Group?
This is a Contract to Hire position!
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Produce and maintain capacity models, balanced line layouts, and production ramp plans to define labor planning, capex requirements, workstation design, and throughput gaps
- Design effective facility layouts and production lines using CAD and simulation that meet process requirements, enable production targets, optimize resource allocation and material flow, and maximize productivity and quality for both low-rate and full-rate production
- Identify and champion improvements to key causes of high variability or production bottlenecks, driving actions to resolution across disciplines and stakeholders
- Translate and drive action from metrics, KPIs, and reporting associated with monitoring production line health and efficiency (e.g., cycle time, throughput rate, capacity, utilization, first-pass yield)
- Analyze manufacturing health to support decisions impacting Engineering (cut-in dates for new designs), Supply Chain (procurement signals), Manufacturing (clear-to-build signals and production priorities), and Growth (supply visibility to support demand commitments)
- Communicate effectively using graphical and analytical tools to support collaborative decision-making and provide clear, relevant status updates
- Lead the design of production lines and workstations for both low-rate and full-rate production using techniques such as Value Stream Mapping, time studies, and line balancing
- Mentor junior industrial engineers, technicians, and peers on IE principles and best practices
- Interface with vendors and suppliers on equipment specifications and RFQs
- Develop and align standards across multiple sites to enable scalability
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing Engineering and Manufacturing Operations
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in industrial, mechanical, manufacturing, or aerospace engineering
- 5 years of experience in a high-rate manufacturing environment building complex products with strong data utilization
- Experience in factory and production line design and setup, including value stream mapping, flow lines, continuous flow, one-piece flow, workstation design, and PFMEA
- Expertise in material flow systems: pull systems, Kanban, min/max calculations, part presentation, tote/bin packaging, and line-side racking
- Experience with digital manufacturing tools such as Siemens Plant Simulation or Process Simulation (or equivalent)
- Proven ability to own an entire value chain end-to-end, coordinating across internal and external stakeholders to deliver on time with high quality standards
- Experience with ERP, PLM, WMS, and MES systems
- Strong background in Lean Manufacturing principles and implementation
- Ability to create and interpret engineering drawings for composite and metallic aerospace parts and assemblies, including GD&T, NDT methods, acceptance criteria, process specifications, and assembly methods
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience designing or standing up new production lines or factories from concept through detailed workstation design
- Strong data analysis skills, including filtering large datasets, identifying trends, and visualizing insights
- Knowledge of design and manufacturing engineering processes, including:
- 3D CAD modeling of parts and assemblies
- 3D factory layout design
- Manufacturing process planning for fabricated parts and complex assemblies
- Simulation of assembly processes, ergonomics, and discrete event systems
- Strong background in manufacturing data analytics and statistical analysis, including SPC
- Experience in an aerospace composites manufacturing environment
