Duties
- Oversee daily horticultural activities including planting, pruning, watering, and harvesting crops to ensure optimal growth and quality.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery such as tractors, irrigation systems, greenhouses, and power tools with precision and safety awareness.
- Manage livestock care including feeding, health monitoring, animal husbandry practices, and handling livestock safely and humanely.
- Conduct equipment repairs, troubleshooting mechanical issues, welding repairs when necessary, and perform routine maintenance to keep machinery running efficiently.
- Supervise farm staff or seasonal workers in tasks like manual handling, heavy lifting, and equipment operation to promote safety standards in production.
- Implement irrigation schedules and monitor water systems to optimize crop health while adhering to environmental standards.
- Maintain detailed records of crop cycles, animal health logs, equipment maintenance schedules, and safety compliance documentation.
Requirements
- Proven experience in farming or agriculture with hands-on knowledge of horticulture practices and greenhouse management.
- Supervising experience or leadership skills in managing farm teams or seasonal workers.
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment such as agricultural tractors, forklifts, and other farm machinery; certification preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic repairs on farm equipment; welding skills are a plus.
- Experience with animal husbandry including livestock management and animal handling techniques.
- Knowledge of safety standards related to outdoor work environments, heavy lifting, manual handling, and equipment operation.
- Ability to perform physical tasks involving heavy lifting, manual handling, and outdoor labor in various weather conditions.
- Familiarity with irrigation systems, MRO (maintenance, repair & operations), power tools, hand tools, and basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
- Greenhouse experience or horticultural expertise is highly desirable; outdoor work experience is essential.
