What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Custodian/Maintenance Helper position at JST Corporation?
Now Hiring: Lead Custodian & Maintenance Helper – Great Pay, 401k Match, & Generous PTO!
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, self-motivated Lead Custodian / Maintenance Helper to join our Facilities team and help keep our building in pristine condition. In this role, you will perform a variety of daily cleaning and routine maintenance tasks while ensuring the facility remains safe and welcoming. Because this is a leadership role, you will also be responsible for directing, supporting, training, and mentoring other custodial staff members. You will work closely with the Facilities Manager to establish efficient cleaning schedules and sometimes collaborate with external contract cleaning services to get the job done right.
Qualifications:What You Will Do
Your daily responsibilities will center on the general cleaning and upkeep of our building. This includes vacuuming, sweeping, mopping floors, cleaning and stocking restrooms, and managing trash collection and disposal. You will keep a close eye on inventory to ensure cleaning supplies remain well-stocked, and you will always prioritize safety when handling standard cleaning products and equipment. Beyond deep cleaning, you will tackle minor building repairs, safely clean up spills, and lock up the building securely after hours. When larger, more complex issues arise, you will be the point person to notify managers of major repair needs.
What We Look For
To excel in this position, you should have a solid foundation in cleaning practices and the ability to perform basic maintenance repairs without constant supervision. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with basic math skills and excellent time management. Since this is a physically active role, you must be comfortable working on your feet for an 8-hour shift in an environment that includes production area noise and cleaning solvents. You should be able to regularly lift up to 30 pounds on your own, and up to 100 pounds occasionally with proper assistance. Most importantly, we want a leader who works well independently and can confidently guide a team.
Compensation and Great Benefits
We value our team's hard work and offer a competitive hourly pay rate ranging from $20.00 to $25.00, depending on your experience. This is a non-exempt position that comes with a fantastic, comprehensive benefits package. We provide robust health insurance options to keep you and your family covered. To support your future, we offer a generous 401(k) retirement plan complete with a company match. We also believe heavily in work-life balance, which is why our employees enjoy a highly generous Paid Time Off (PTO) policy along with paid holidays.
