Child Care Substitute
General Summary:
Duties and responsibilities shall also include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Serve as primary or assistant caregiver for children by program (ages will vary depending on program from 6 weeks to 12 years old).
- Responsibilities may include physical care giving, developmental assessments, and following age-appropriate curriculum and lesson plans.
- Follow program-specific guidelines for intake/attendance, food/snacks, and general care of children. Follow emergency procedures as appropriate.
- Exhibit patience and flexibility for working with and adapting to the varying needs of children.
- Clear communication with children, parents, and staff. Maintains a positive and encouraging attitude when working with children, parents and peers.
- Maintains First Aid and Infant/Child CPR certification.
- Is a Mandated Reporter of suspected cases of child abuse and neglect in accordance with Maryland State and Montgomery County regulations. Reports suspected cases of child abuse and neglect to direct supervisor.
- Maintain confidentiality of family records and information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- In case of an emergency, it is crucial to follow the established protocol.
- Able to lift at least 40 pounds.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma
- 18 years of age.
- Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certified.
- Previous experience working children in a group setting preferred.
- Experience with multi-ethnic, low-income, and at-risk families preferred.
- Work cooperatively with families and accept them as an essential part of the program.
Hourly Rate: $18.50/hour
