Job Summary:
The PBB Technician/HVAC role is a mid-level position with varied responsibilities, including the maintenance of airport Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBB). The primary function of this position is to maintain and repair equipment used for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, together with providing electro-mechanical operational, preventative, and emergency maintenance support on Passenger Boarding Bridge systems.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance and basic adjustments on pre-conditioned air (PCA) units to include (Freon) servicing.
- Conduct daily and periodic shift inspections, cleaning, and diagnostics of PCA units.
- Use refrigerant handling equipment that has been certified by the EPA, or an independent standard testing organization approved by the EPA.
- Assist in electrical and mechanical adjustments to PCA units.
- Monitor system operation, diagnose equipment failures, and ensure equipment is running safely.
- Perform preventive maintenance based on an established scheduled preventive maintenance program to include, but not limited to, motors, bearings, filters, hoses, connectors, drains, and thermostats.
- Dismantle, repair, and reassemble equipment or machines for stock replacement and/or to restore equipment to operations status.
- Safety and compliance training as required.
- Perform other reasonable ancillary duties to support the operation and our customer.
Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or General Educational Development (GED).
- Must possess a valid HVAC Universal license along with two (2) years of work experience.
- Must possess at least two (2) years of mechanical, welding, and brazing work experience.
- Must possess at least one (1) year of basic electrical and/or electronic systems work experience.
- Must be able to read and interpret repair manuals, basic schematics, and supervisor instructions.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day
- Frequently lifting/moving items that may range in weight up-to 50 pounds, occasionally up-to 100 pounds
- Work safely in a variety of locations that may include moving equipment and electricity, as well as small spaces, high spaces, dirty spaces, and hot spaces.
- Be aware of moving equipment, as well as areas where electricity is present.
Additional Requirements:
The employee must be able to successfully pass a drug screening, a drivers’ license check and validation, a ten (10) year Criminal History Records Check (CHRC), federal fingerprinting and security threat assessment as well as airport security badging.
