JSI invites you to join our team as an Assistant CAD Manager on our Fiber Design & Implementation team in our Nephi, UT office, where you'll play a critical role in advancing broadband and telecommunications initiatives that expand connectivity and drive digital inclusion-while advancing your career within a mission-driven, growth-focused organization.
Position Overview:
As an Assistant CAD Manager, you will be responsible for the successful execution of CAD-based OSP fiber network design and implementation projects across multiple markets, which will build our nation’s infrastructure by delivering the transformative power of gigabit fiber access to rural communities.
This role provides guidance to CAD Technicians as they assist various JSI project teams by providing CAD work that is timely, within budget, and to the required standard. You will provide updates to the CAD Manager and Project Manager and ensure each phase of CAD work is delivered according to the schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and monitor project progress for CAD-related tasks.
- Coordinate closely with CAD Manager to ensure design plans are created correctly.
- Assist CAD Manager with updated team training on advancements in CAD and GIS tools.
- Work closely with the CAD Manager and Engineering/OSP Project Management team on CAD staffing workload, interviews, and hiring needs.
- Use company standards to interpret and draw various types of engineering documents. With minimal oversight, make minor corrections to Unit Tabulations, Staking Sheets, Cable Schematics, Detail Maps, and clean up land bases used for maps.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD (drawing shapes, line manipulation, layers, blocks).
- Proficient computer skills are required with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Requires good oral and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work on multiple projects in collaboration with a team.
Preferred:
- Degree in Computer-Aided Drafting & Design preferred.
- 6 years of experience with AutoCAD.
- 2 years of experience managing a team of resources, both locally and remotely.
