Provide onsite structural engineering support for instrument air system installation at a commercial nuclear power plant. This role is field-focused and requires real-time evaluation of as-found conditions, support of construction activities, and execution of field changes in accordance with nuclear QA and configuration control requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide onsite structural engineering support during construction and installation activities
- Perform field walkdowns of steel, concrete, supports, anchors, embeds, and penetrations
- Evaluate as-built vs design conditions and resolve installation conflicts
- Develop, justify, and process field changes (FCNs, redlines, as-builts) within approved design bounds
- Interface directly with construction, craft, QA, and engineering
- Ensure compliance with nuclear safety, quality, and configuration control requirements
- Support timely resolution of field issues to maintain construction schedule
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or related engineering discipline
- Prior commercial nuclear power plant experience (required)
- Proven experience providing onsite field engineering support
- Demonstrated ability to execute and document field changes
- Strong understanding of structural systems (steel, concrete, anchors, supports)
- Comfortable working in a high-compliance nuclear environment
