JSG is seeking a Manufacturing and Process Engineering Manager for an established Aerospace client in the Torrance area, for an on-site, direct hire position. Looking for someone with Machine Shop Management /Shop Foreman experience.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations Management
- Lead daily production activities across CNC milling (3-, 4-, 5-axis) and mill-turn operations.
- Manage machinists, operators, and production staff to achieve SQDC performance goals.
- Allocate people, machines, and tooling to meet schedule and customer commitments.
- Manage equipment and facilities lifecycles including acquisition, improvement, maintenance, repair, and replacement.
- Foster a safety-first culture across all shop floor activities.
- Ensure OSHA and company safety policies are met through training and audits.
- Proactively identify and correct safety hazards.
- Ensure machining processes consistently meet GD&T, AS9100/ISO standards, and customer specifications.
- Partner with Quality Engineering on root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous quality improvements.
- Drive reduction in scrap and rework while improving first-pass yield.
- Monitor WIP, production schedules, and capacity to ensure customer delivery requirements are met.
- Collaborate with Scheduling and Supply Chain to resolve bottlenecks and material issues.
- Improve labor efficiency, cycle times, and tooling utilization to maintain cost competitiveness.
- Review customer prints and CAD models to define efficient machining processes.
- Develop setup sheets, work instructions, tooling lists, and fixture strategies.
- Collaborate with programmers to optimize toolpaths, reduce cycle times, and extend tool life.
- Provide Sales Team with support on RFQ responses to include projected manufacturing process, set up times, run times, and all other in house cost estimates used to build up RFQ responses.
- Support new product introductions (NPI) and first article inspections (FAI).
- Manage spend to include consumables, raw material, and indirect costs required to effectively manage the business.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to improve throughput and reduce waste.
- Identify opportunities for automation, probing, and advanced machining strategies.
- Maintain process control documentation, FMEAs, and capability studies (Cp, Cpk).
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent practical experience).
- 5 years of leadership and process engineering experience in CNC machining.
- Strong technical knowledge of 3-, 4-, 5-axis milling and mill-turn operations.
- Hands-on experience with GD&T, cutting tools, and fixturing/workholding.
- Proficiency with CAM software (Mastercam, NX, CATIA, or equivalent).
- Proven ability to manage SQDC performance in a precision machining environment.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Aerospace, defense, or medical device machining background.
- Knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for routings and production reporting.
- Experience with automation, adaptive toolpaths, and probing systems.
