Salary

  • Licensing Engineer 3: $120,000 – $134,000 annually
  • Licensing Engineer 4: $150,000 – $165,000 annually

These roles involve preparing and submitting licensing documents, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting engineering, safety, and test teams. Both levels interface with regulatory agencies and industry groups, with Level 4 providing senior-level direction and oversight for complex licensing initiatives.

What You’ll Do

Licensing Engineer 3

  • Provide regulatory and licensing guidance for assigned projects.
  • Develop and maintain licensing programs and schedules.
  • Prepare, review, and submit licensing documents for regulatory compliance.
  • Support internal engineering, test, and safety teams on licensing activities.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies and participate in regulatory engagements.
  • Assist in standardizing processes, procedures, and work practices.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required.

Licensing Engineer 4(Senior-Level Role)

  • Lead senior-level regulatory guidance for complex projects, resolving licensing strategy and interpretation issues.
  • Oversee licensing programs, schedules, and regulatory meetings for multiple projects.
  • Manage internal, client, and industry group interfaces (e.g., NEI, EPRI).
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant regulatory submittals for complex licensing applications.
  • Develop and implement effective regulatory strategies based on industry guidance and analysis.
  • Maintain standardized work practices and implement lessons learned and industry best practices.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required.

What You Need

Licensing Engineer 3

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Science (advanced degree preferred).
  • 6 years of regulatory affairs or nuclear licensing experience (power plants, reactor suppliers, or architect-engineering firms).
  • Knowledge in areas such as COLA, site characterization, environmental, seismic/structural, ITP/ITAAC, Maintenance Rule, Emergency Planning, ASME BPVC II/III/XI, radiological compliance.
  • Experience with regulatory agency interactions preferred.

Licensing Engineer 4

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Science (advanced degree preferred).
  • 10 years of nuclear licensing experience (or 8 years with advanced degree) in nuclear power plants, reactor suppliers, architect-engineering firms, or Navy nuclear background.
  • Proven experience managing complex regulatory projects and direct regulatory agency interactions.
  • Knowledge of project management systems preferred.
  • Expertise in one or more areas: COLA, site characterization, environmental, seismic/structural, ITP/ITAAC, Maintenance Rule, Emergency Planning, ASME BPVC II/III/XI, radiological compliance.

Both Levels

  • Eligibility to work under DOE 10 CFR Part 810 regulations.
  • Strong problem solving, planning, adaptability, and team-building skills.
  • Commitment to nuclear safety culture and quality assurance (10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, NQA-1).
