Key Responsibilities
Electrical Design & Engineering
- Design industrial electrical power systems (120V–15kV) for manufacturing and industrial facilities
- Develop detailed electrical drawings, including:
- One-line diagrams
- Schematics and wiring diagrams
- Panel schedules and MCC layouts
- Lighting, grounding, and cable plans
- Perform engineering calculations:
- Short circuit and arc flash studies
- Load flow and voltage drop calculations
- Prepare technical specifications for:
- Transformers
- Switchgear and switchboards
- Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Protective relaying and power distribution equipment
- Conduct technical evaluations of vendor proposals and equipment submittals
- Ensure all designs comply with NEC, NEMA, and applicable industry standards
- Promote system reliability, safety, and maintainability
- Serve as electrical discipline lead on assigned projects
- Define scopes of work, estimate engineering hours, and review deliverables
- Provide technical direction to designers and CADD staff
- Collaborate with mechanical, controls, and other engineering disciplines
- Participate in site walks and field installation checks
- Support construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities
- Resolve site-specific electrical and integration challenges
- Prepare technical reports and engineering studies
- Support front-end engineering and design (FEED) and front-end loading (FEL) efforts
- Medium- and low-voltage industrial power distribution
- PLC and control system integration
- Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
- Lighting systems and heat trace design
- Electrical systems for new and existing processing plants
The successful candidate will possess:
- 5 years of electrical systems design experience in a consulting or engineering services organization
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology (accredited)
- Ohio PE license preferred, but not required
- Working knowledge of:
- Single-line diagrams, schematics, P&IDs
- NEC application and electrical safety standards
- Experience leading or managing project teams of 3–4 members
- Experience with FEED and/or FEL studies
- Proven background in:
- Power distribution and secondary unit substations
- Equipment and installation specifications
- Power system modeling, simulations, and integration into operating facilities
- Experience with Class I, Division 1 & 2 electrical designs preferred
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar CADD tools
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
