What are the responsibilities and job description for the Relief Therapeutic Counselor position at JRI?
Who we are looking for:
You will be a Relief Therapeutic Counselor working with our youth Total Achievement Program (TAP) which is a therapeutic after-school and summer program for youth ages 6 to 12 years old in Norton and surrounding towns.
TAP staff work closely with the youths' families, schools, and community agency providers to support each client's educational success as part of a comprehensive treatment team.
Scheduling Needs:
- September-June: Monday through Friday, 2-6 pm
- July-August: Monday through Friday, Full-Day Opportunities
JRI provides training so that you can:
- Develop skills in providing enriching daily activities such as arts and crafts, homework assistance, recreational activities including offsite field trips, and more
- Create a safe and therapeutic community by working with youth to build positive peer relationships, manage behaviors in group settings, and develop effective coping strategies
- Work as a member of a treatment team that provides group counseling, works with youth to set goals, and collaborates with youth's support systems to develop treatment plans
- Help students discover what makes them feel competent and valued by supporting them in developing social skills necessary to function at home and in the community

Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. College Degrees are preferred
- Candidates who have experience working with latency-age children or experience in behavior modification are preferred
- Maintains valid driver's license as transporting youth is required
- You will learn to provide physical interventions and verbal de-escalations to provide the safest therapeutic atmosphere for our youth
- Background and driving record checks will be performed
