Position Overview
We are seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our growing team. This is a hybrid role that includes a combination of telehealth visits and occasional in-person care at one of our three locations across DC and Maryland, based on patient need.
This position includes a structured ramp-up period to support a smooth transition into the role.
Responsibilities
- Deliver care with cultural humility and an awareness of social determinants of mental health
- Provide psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management for children, adolescents, and/or adults (population preferences can be discussed)
- Diagnose and treat acute, episodic, and chronic psychiatric conditions
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with best practices
- Conduct in-person visits when clinically indicated
- Collaborate with therapists, primary care providers, and other members of the care team
- Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals or higher levels of care when appropriate
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation
- Communicate as needed with collaborating physicians or specialists regarding patient care
Ramp-Up & Support
- Structured onboarding and gradual increase in caseload to support provider success
- Administrative, billing, and scheduling support provided
- Collaborative environment with clinical guidance available as needed
Licensure & Credentialing Requirements
- Must be licensed as a PMHNP in Washington, DC or Maryland at time of hire
- Must obtain licensure in both DC and Maryland within six (6) months of start date
- Must hold at least one active DEA license (DC or Maryland)
- Eligible for credentialing with commercial insurance plans
Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to equitable, inclusive care and interest in working within a social justice-oriented practice
- PMHNP certification and active APRN licensure
- Previous experience in outpatient psychiatric care preferred (newer graduates with strong clinical training will be considered)
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build rapport with a diverse patient population
- Comfortable working in a hybrid telehealth/in-person model

Benefits & Compensation
- Hourly rate from $75-100 per hour with the option to transition to a fee-for-service model once census is established
- Paid Time Off (PTO) based on hours worked and tenure
- Six paid holidays annually (employee choice of six federal holidays)
- CME and licensure reimbursement of $1,500–$2,000 annually (based on tenure)
- Administrative time ranging from 3–5 hours per week (based on tenure)
