Job Description:

Description: The Manager of Radiology Quality is responsible for developing and managing the day-to-day operations of the Radiology Quality Control and Quality Assurance Programs. This position works with the Director of Radiology to oversee the coordination of department activities, education, regulatory compliance, equipment quality control, maintenance, and performance improvement.

Typical Duties

  • Manages Radiology Quality Specialists including education, training, competency development, performance feedback, and termination.
  • Initiates, plans, directs and reports on department quality and performance improvement goals/plan.
  • Develops Radiation Safety Education materials and provides Radiation Safety education for entire hospital District.
  • Develops department operating budget.
  • Prioritizes, and allocates staff and resources to accomplish assigned objectives within approved budget parameters.
  • Demonstrates competence in applicable professional skills and participates in continuing professional education.
  • Develops, updates and implements policy and procedures. Ensures team members are familiar with policies/procedures.
  • Works directly with radiologists to ensure all national and state regulations and standards for radiology modality specific safety are met.
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance of dosimetry for hospital district per regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance of lead protective devices for hospital district per regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for department file maintenance to ensure records are in compliance according to state, federal, HIPAA, ACR, IAC, TJC, and JPS guidelines.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health/Business Management Administration from an accredited University.
  • Five plus years of Radiology, Sonography, and/or Nuclear Medicine technologist work experience.
  • Two plus year of work experience performing Radiology Quality Control

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience in Performance Improvement Projects
  • Direct experience with State, ACR and TJC Officials?
  • High Level Disinfection (HLD) experience.

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

  • Must be (at least one); American Registry Radiology Technology (ARRT) certified in at least one modality (R, CT, MR, N, M, T, S, and/or VS), or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) certified, or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certified in at least one modality (AB, BR, AE, OB/GYN, SPI, VT, PE, MSKS, FE, and/or PS).
  • Texas MRT license is required with any certification relating to the operation of radiologic producing equipment and/or radiation producing pharmaceuticals (i.e. use of radiopharmaceuticals)

Preferred Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

  • Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) by the AHRA.
  • Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) / Assistant RSO experience.
  • Laser Safety Officer (LSO) / Assistant LSO experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma and Black Belt Certification
