Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities
- Plans, directs, and coordinates clinical nutrition services, for inpatient and Community Health Clinics. Audits clinical nutrition information in patient medical records for appropriateness and completeness. Participates interdepartmentally in quality assurance activities to continuously improve the overall quality of patient care.
- Provides leadership and oversight for the patient services operations. Manages staff in the performance of work required to provide services independently. Develops and monitors internal controls that promote adherence to applicable regulations and laws. This includes menu support, appropriate substitutions for patient diet changes, patient services project work, and patient satisfaction strategies.
- Implements and monitors quality improvement initiatives for areas of responsibility.
- Assigns, trains and evaluates job competency and work performance of team. Manages recruiting and interview process of new candidates for open positions.
- Serves as a preceptor and manages dietetic interns. Serves as the liaison for dietetic internship programs for universities with affiliation agreements with the network.
- Serves on interdisciplinary committees managing clinical nutrition practice at JPS.
- Coordinates staff training and development in area of Patient Experience and therapeutic diets as the expert clinician.
- Assists Executive Director in determining budgetary needs for areas of responsibility including staffing, education, supplies, IT, and patient formula and feeding needs for all areas patient and clinical areas.
- Manages and evaluates the performance of assigned department personnel based on job requirements and core competencies assigned to the job.
- Serves as a mentor to facilitate professional growth and job satisfaction of employees. Cultivates a learning centered environment with training goals for the clinical nutrition team.
- Ensures integrity of clinical nutrition documentation and reporting – providers dashboards and outcomes reports based on department measures. Develops and organizes initial and ongoing training materials using knowledge of the effectiveness of various modalities to create successful outcomes.
- Participates interdepartmentally in quality assurance activities to continuously improve the overall quality of patient care.
- Works with other department leaders to provide optimal food and nutrition to our patients, visitors, and staff to ensure the healing and well-being of each individual.
- This position focuses on training nutrition services employees, supporting department education, metrics, development of training content, department orientation compliance, and regulatory competencies. Works to increase employee development and training for best operational results for all department employees (clinical and operational food service).

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Science, Food Science and Nutrition from an accredited university or college.
- 4 plus years of work experience in clinical nutrition practice in a large hospital/healthcare setting.
- 2 plus years of leadership responsibilities to include managing food service employees and resources.
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) Certification from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics with licensure with Texas State Board of Examiners of Dietitians. Must obtain within 90-days of hire.
- Master's Degree in Food and Nutrition, Food Service Management or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- 5 - 7 plus years managing a Clinical Nutrition Services Program in a healthcare setting.
