What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Estimator position at JPM Resourcing?
Lead Estimator – Commercial Construction
Raleigh, NC | $150,000–$180,000 Vehicle Bonus
This isn't an opportunity to sit behind a desk, manage a team and stop estimating.
I'm working with a long-established Raleigh General Contractor looking for a Lead Estimator to take a key role within its preconstruction team. The business has been established for more than 70 years and has built its reputation around quality, relationships and doing challenging projects well.
They're deliberately not trying to be the biggest contractor in the market. They value the quality of the work they take on and the relationships behind it. Many of their clients, subcontractors and trade partners have worked with the business for years.
The Role
You'll lead and develop the estimating team, but you'll remain very hands-on.
You'll still be estimating projects yourself, getting into the detail of bids, working with subcontractors and helping shape the strategy behind which projects the business pursues.
You'll be responsible for:
- Leading estimates from early-stage budgeting through final submission
- Personally estimating and taking ownership of key projects
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, scopes and subcontractor pricing
- Leading bid reviews and helping develop winning strategies
- Working closely with Operations and senior leadership
- Developing and mentoring other members of the estimating team
- Building and maintaining relationships with trusted trade partners
- Identifying risk, opportunities and value throughout preconstruction
Who They're Looking For:
This could suit an established Lead Estimator, but they're equally interested in meeting a strong Senior Estimator who's ready to step up.
The important thing isn't necessarily having managed a big estimating department before. They want somebody who knows how to estimate, understands commercial construction and wants greater responsibility without moving away from the work they enjoy doing.
Experience with a General Contractor and a strong understanding of the Raleigh/Triangle subcontractor market would be particularly valuable.
Why Consider It?
This is a chance to take a genuine leadership role within an established contractor without becoming removed from the projects.
$150,000–$180,000 base salary
Company vehicle
Annual bonus
Long-term Raleigh opportunity
Established business with 70 years of history
Strong local client and trade relationships
Opportunity for a Senior Estimator to make the step into leadership
