Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, bulldozers, forklifts, and other construction machinery.
- Conduct electrical diagnostics, hydraulic system repairs, engine overhauls, transmission servicing, brake repairs, suspension adjustments, and alignment procedures.
- Utilize OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) schematics and technical manuals to accurately troubleshoot issues across various systems such as electrical, hydraulic, HVAC, and diesel engines.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, cutting tools, and fabrication techniques to ensure equipment longevity.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete inspection reports, and document all repairs performed for accountability and future reference.
- Assist with equipment assembly, disassembly, testing, and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Support heavy lifting operations using appropriate tools and safety procedures while ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or Service Technician with dealership or industrial equipment background preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of construction machinery maintenance including excavators, cranes, tractors, trailers, and farm machinery.
- Proficiency in electrical systems diagnostics including automotive diagnostics and electrical troubleshooting techniques.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, schematics reading, and precision measurement tools.
- Ability to perform diesel engine diagnostics and repair along with air brake systems servicing.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, suspension systems, tire service, HVAC systems in heavy equipment, and alignment procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues efficiently.
- Strong customer service orientation with clear communication skills for working with clients or team members.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy machinery when necessary.
