Duties
- Schedule patient appointments efficiently across multiple providers and specialties, ensuring optimal use of clinic resources.
- Verify insurance coverage prior to appointments by conducting insurance verification and eligibility checks using managed care systems.
- Collect, review, and update medical records while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Assist with insurance claim submissions by understanding CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10 diagnosis codes, and medical coding standards.
- Communicate with insurance companies to resolve claim issues, denials, or discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain accurate documentation of medical records, appointment logs, and insurance correspondence for audit readiness.
- Support office operations by managing medical terminology references and ensuring all documentation complies with regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or dental office experience is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of managed care processes, insurance verification procedures, and medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10).
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and secure handling of medical information.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and office documentation.
