Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to ensure comfort and dignity.
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, reporting changes, and maintaining accurate documentation in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support medication administration and help implement individualized care plans under supervision.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs while maintaining cleanliness and safety standards within the living environment.
- Operate equipment such as Hoyer lifts and assist with heavy lifting to ensure safe transfers and mobility assistance.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment by performing light housekeeping tasks including cleaning common areas and resident rooms.
- Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering a positive atmosphere that promotes social interaction and mental well-being.
Skills
- Proven experience in home & community care, assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care environments.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism.
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, and HIPAA compliance; additional certifications such as hospice care or nursing are advantageous.
- Ability to accurately monitor vital signs and recognize signs of distress or health deterioration.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams, residents, families, and social workers.
- Physical stamina for activities involving heavy lifting and assisting with mobility; familiarity with equipment like Hoyer lifts is preferred.
