Joy Child Development Center (Joy CDC) is a non-profit organization committed to serving children and families in our community. Our mission is to provide a warm, supportive, and developmentally sound learning environment that supports each child's growth while giving families confidence that their child is well cared for and loved.
Joy Child Development Center has recently expanded its toddler program to better meet the needs of our community. We are seeking a full-time Lead Toddler Teacher to support our growing 19–24 month classroom. Joy CDC provides early childhood education and care for children ages 19 months through 5 years old.
Position Summary:
The Lead Toddler Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate, anti-bias, and multicultural curriculum that supports the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of toddlers ages 19–24 months. This position also serves as a mentor and resource for Teaching Assistants.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Communicate professionally and respectfully (verbally and in writing) with children, families, teaching staff, and management
- Implement curriculum aligned with Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP) and NAEYC Accreditation standards
- Plan and facilitate age-appropriate learning experiences that recognize individual development, culture, and diversity
- Complete documentation related to children's learning and development, including original work, photographs, anecdotal records, and assessments
- Create and maintain a safe, organized, engaging, and well-supplied classroom environment
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment through appropriate supervision and infection control practices
- Ensure classroom materials and equipment are safe and well maintained
- Support meal times by:
- Cleaning tables with soap and bleach prior to meals
- Modeling family-style dining
- Assisting children with proper handwashing
- Calling roll for meal counts
- Using correct serving utensils and portion sizes for each age group
- Serve as a mentor and support for Teaching Assistants
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff at all times
- Adhere to Joy CDC photo release and confidentiality policies; photos must be taken using Joy CDC equipment only
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of teaching experience with young children preferred
- Must be willing to obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential within a designated timeframe after hire
- Must pass a background check
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or ability to obtain upon hire
- Meets licensing and NAEYC Accreditation standards for continuing education
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
- Ability to read and interpret written policies and communicate clearly with families

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds
- Ability to sit in child-sized chairs and work at floor level
- Ability to kneel, bend, sit, stand, walk, and run as required

Schedule
- Full-time position
- 8-hour shifts: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM or 8:30 AM–5:30 PM
- Monday through Friday
- Day shift
