The Journeyman Press is hiring an experienced HP Indigo Digital Press Operator for a full-time, first shift, onsite position at our facility in Newburyport, Massachusetts. This role requires at least 3 years of hands-on HP Indigo press operating experience in a commercial printing environment.
In this position, you will set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain HP Indigo digital press equipment to produce high-quality printed materials while meeting production schedules and quality standards. You will work closely with prepress, customer service, and finishing/bindery teams to ensure jobs are completed accurately, efficiently, and on time.
Compensation based on experience and qualifications

Required Experience (Must Have)
* Minimum 3 years of experience operating HP Indigo digital presses (required)
* Experience in a commercial print production environment (required)
* Strong understanding of color quality, registration, and print consistency
* Experience with press setup, make-ready, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance
Key Responsibilities
* Set up, operate, and maintain HP Indigo digital press equipment
* Review job tickets and files to ensure correct setup, stock, and job specifications
* Perform make-ready, calibration, and color adjustments to meet quality standards
* Monitor print quality throughout production and make adjustments as needed
* Maintain color consistency, registration, and output accuracy
* Load substrates and consumables; ensure proper alignment and press readiness
* Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and preventive upkeep on press equipment
* Troubleshoot press and production issues to minimize downtime
* Track production, downtime, and job status in MIS/ERP/workflow systems
* Communicate with prepress, CSR/customer service, finishing, and production leadership
* Maintain accurate production records, machine settings, and job notes
* Follow all shop safety procedures and production best practices
* Assist with other production-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent
* 3 years HP Indigo operator experience required
* Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control
* Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced production environment
* Team-oriented with clear communication skills
* Familiarity with digital workflows, file prep, and color management is a plus
Physical Requirements
* Ability to stand for extended periods during the shift
* Frequent walking, reaching, bending, and lifting
* Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
* Ability to distinguish colors and shades accurately for print quality control

Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
