Journey’s End Refugee Services is a refugee resettlement and immigration services provider for the Western New York Region. We are a community-based organization with the mission of providing refugees and immigrants with the resources and support they need to become successful, active and contributing members of our shared community. The Immigration Legal Services (ILS) Program offers immigration legal services to immigrant New Yorkers in need, including representation on matters before U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) and Buffalo Immigration Court.


Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Immigration Legal Services, the Supervising Attorney will assist in the management and development of the Immigration and Legal Services Program that offers full-scale holistic immigration representation to low-income refugees, asylees and other vulnerable immigrant populations. This role combines direct legal representation in complex immigration cases with staff supervision, program development, and community engagement. The Supervising Attorney will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services while supporting the professional growth of the ILS team.

The position will be based out of Buffalo, NY.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist Director of ILS with overseeing the daily operations of the Immigration Legal Services (ILS) Program at the Main Street, Buffalo, NY office.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor Senior Attorneys, Staff Attorneys, DOJ Representatives, paralegals and other support staff, ensuring personnel needs are met in coordination with Human Resources, and fostering positive and productive working relationships.
  • Provide direct representation in complex affirmative and defensive immigration matters.
  • Collaborate with the Director of ILS and other senior department staff on policy development, data collection, and process improvements aligned with agency goals.
  • Develop and maintain community partnerships and participate in local and statewide initiatives that advance the mission of the ILS program and benefit its clients.
  • Facilitate relationships with community partners and stakeholders in the region to create opportunities for program development and enhance agency visibility.
  • Represent and promote Journey’s End in the community, including participation in Journey’s End–sponsored events
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Admission to practice law in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience practicing immigration law, with demonstrated experience in both affirmative and defensive representation.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, train, supervise, and support the professional development of a dynamic team of talented and dedicated individuals.

· Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

· Ability to travel to Journey’s End satellite offices as needed.

Salary : $90,000 - $95,000
