What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bookkeeper position at Journey of Hope?
What You’ll Do:
- Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable/receivable and general ledger entries
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements regularly
- Process payroll and manage tax filings (W-2s, 1099s, etc.) for a small team
- Track donations, grants, and restricted funds for compliance
- Prepare monthly and annual financial reports for leadership and the Board
- Assist with budgeting, audits, and nonprofit compliance requirements
What We’re Looking For:
- High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s in accounting or finance preferred
- 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience (nonprofit experience a plus)
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and confidentiality
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively
