Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Educator to join our team. As an Educator, you will play a vital role in shaping the lives of children and providing them with a strong foundation for their education in our nature immersive setting. This position offers an opportunity to work in an alternative educational setting with a focus on early childhood education while outdoors.

This job will begin in late August 2026.

Duties:
-Attendance is necessary from September to December & March to May quarters position with holiday breaks. If interested in Summer Coverage, please note. (June, July, August - 8 weeks distributed)

-Observe, facilitate, and reflect on learning experiences with JNS students, using these moments as the guide for future learning experiences.

- Create and implement engaging lesson plans that promote learning and development in alignment with teaching philosophies such as Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and International Baccalaureate's Primary Years Programme.
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children, ensuring their well-being and welfare at all times.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that prioritizes engagement and collaboration among students, both as individuals and community members.
- Utilize effective teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to parents/guardians (with support of program administrators)
- Collaborate with other educators and staff members to create a holistic educational experience for students that prioritizes social-emotional development, communicating ideas, self-regulation, critical thinking and problem solving.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and observational, anecdotal, and other relevant assessments

Experience:
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in a preschool or early childhood education setting
- Willingness to learn about Montessori and other related principles and practices is highly desirable
- Knowledge of child development theories and best practices in early childhood education
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students
- Proficiency in behavior management techniques to create a positive classroom environment

Requirements:
-High School Diploma or equivalent

- Some level of higher education and experience in Early Childhood Education or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Valid teaching certification or child care license preferred.
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Pass background checks as required by state regulations

This Lead Educator Position is for 2 or 3 days a week (Tue/Thu or Tue, Wed, Thu) with some additional hours for planning and is a job best fit for working parents or those with flexible schedules.
