Social Media Intern
PURPOSE:
Journey Center for Safety and Healing’s Social Media Intern will play a hands-on role in creating, scheduling, and analyzing content that supports Journey’s mission. Also provides support to the Development Department with other projects as needed.
Unpaid Internship 10 – 20 hours a week
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develop posts, series, and visuals that align with our brand and campaign goals
- Publish content across all social channels and schedule posts using Hootesuite
- Maintain content calendars, campaign trackers, and shared documentation to keep the team organized and aligned
- Monitor engagement, suggest new ideas, track metrics, and learn how to use data to improve performance
- Assist with email content, including drafting copy, selecting visual assets, building campaigns, and scheduling through email marketing tools
- Support graphic design needs
- Support video production and photo shoots
- Research current social trends across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and emerging platforms, and pitch content ideas
- Support additional projects as needed

- Complete agency orientation and training to meet job requirements
- Assumes other responsibilities and duties as directed or assigned
Requirements
- Experience with social media management (coursework, personal projects, or professional experience all accepted)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to clarity, tone, and detail
- Enthusiastic about storytelling, branding, and nonprofit advocacy
- Ability to collaborate effectively
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Comfortable learning new digital tools (Hootesuite, email platforms, editing software).
- Competency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Power Point
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn, experiment, and take on new responsibilities
- Flexibility and adaptability to shifting priorities, timelines, and creative requests
- Basic experience with design or editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar) is a bonus but not required
- Ability to regularly work in the office and attend in-person meetings
- Reliable transportation and a valid Ohio driver’s license is preferred
