Lab Technician

Job Title: Lab Technician

Location: Rochester, NY

Type: Contract 3-4 Months

Compensation: $20.00 - $22.00/hr depending on experience level 

Contractor Work Model: Onsite – onsite

Hours: 40.0 hours per week

Responsibilities

• Support laboratory staff by performing lab processing for approximately 30 ongoing clinical trials, managing procedures, storage, and shipping requirements
• Perform blood draws for adult and pediatric patients
• Conduct vitals, EKGs, and other study procedures as directed by the Study Coordinator
• Review and implement procedures from each study’s laboratory manual
• Collaborate with the clinical team to review lab requirements, prepare tests, set up processes, and address queries
• Present lab requirements during study review meetings
• Order supplies, coordinate local lab tests, establish normal ranges, and prepare requisitions with vendors
• Maintain daily temperature records for drug rooms, refrigerators, and freezers
• Assist with scheduling and calibration of lab equipment
• Disinfect lab and exam rooms daily; inspect rooms for supplies and dispose of biohazard and sharps containers appropriately
• Ensure lab certifications are current and regulations are followed
• Work with the Clinical Site Manager to perform ongoing quality audits of the lab
• Inspect lab daily to ensure necessary supplies are available
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma; some college preferred
• Lab processing experience required
• Phlebotomy experience with both adult and pediatric patients required
• Ability to maintain an organized lab environment and proper documentation
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Provide a comfortable and friendly environment for patients
• Excellent multitasking and workload prioritization skills
• Effective communication skills
