Position Overview
The Electrical Apprentice works under the direct supervision of the Electrical Supervisor in a GMP‑regulated manufacturing environment operating under Q7A standards. This role supports electrical installations, repairs, and preventive maintenance while gaining hands‑on experience and formal training toward advancement within the electrical maintenance trade.
Key Responsibilities
- Function as an apprentice to the electrician team on new electrical installations and repairs of existing systems
- Apply company maintenance material standards and assist in creating material lists and quantities for specific projects
- Install cable raceway systems, including conduit and cable trays
- Pull electrical cables through raceway systems
- Assist with completing work orders and preventive maintenance activities as directed
- Mount electrical enclosures and related equipment
- Perform all tasks safely, efficiently, and within required timelines
- Transport and organize tools, equipment, and supplies to support efficient execution of work
- Respond to urgent situations to address immediate safety concerns
- Perform additional related tasks as assigned by Jost Chemical management
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Has not yet completed an accredited trade school but is actively pursuing enrollment
- Entry‑level: 0–2 years of industrial electrical experience
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment physical, drug screen, and physical capability test
Training Requirements
- Successful completion of an accredited trade school program is required to be eligible for Level 1 Electrical promotion
Knowledge Requirements
- Basic mathematics and English comprehension
- Basic electrical knowledge, including familiarity with 480V three‑phase systems
Skills
- Organization of tools, equipment, and materials
- Ability to use standard tools and equipment in an industrial setting
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
- Understanding of drawings, instructions, schematics, and service manuals
Physical & Technical Abilities
- Safely use basic electrical hand tools, including voltmeters, ammeters, and general hand tools
- Adhere to safety, health, and environmental rules, regulations, and procedures
- Work in extreme hot and cold industrial environments (up to 120°F)
- Properly observe and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Follow oral and written instructions, sketches, and diagrams in English
- Lift up to 50 pounds and safely operate a forklift
- Exhibit manual dexterity, perceptual speed, and flexibility
- Follow all established company policies and procedures
