The Director of Facilities will work to perform supervisory and planning duties for Support Services areas of buildings, grounds, and maintenance.

Essential Functions:
- Evaluates the Assistant Director of Facilities and Skill Craft personnel and oversees the Facilities Department.
- Develop and administer a District-wide Facilities program, including long-range program planning and implementation.
- Manages the planning process for building and maintaining facilities needed to deliver the program of instruction.
- Conduct weekly meetings with Skill Craft employees.
- Oversee the handling of hazardous and other waste.
- Supervises and inspects building repair and remodeling projects, overseeing contractors and collaborating with architects to resolve issues.
- Performs surveying, blueprint reading, and line locations (water, sewer, gas, telephone, electric, CATV, etc
- Manage open facility positions.
- Be involved in the hiring process for facilities positions.
- Annually update the Building Summaries Book.
- Initiate bid requests and apply for state prevailing wage rates for projects.
- Conduct visits to each school district facility on a regular basis.
- Oversees the District’s corrective and preventive maintenance programs for physical plants.
- Coordinates the procurement of contractors’ services for maintenance and construction projects funded by the budget.
- Work through the district's Computerized Maintenance Management System
(FMX) to assign and monitor work order requests for building maintenance.
- Supervise the development and administration of Facilities Programs.
- Supervise and direct the work of all Joplin Schools facilities.
- Coordinates the District’s energy management system.
- Interpret school rules and regulations.
- Supervise the staffing of Facilities personnel.
- Incorporates Capital Project and Facility operating needs into budget preparation and administers the approved department budget.
- Oversees the inspection, maintenance, and repair of the District's Facilities white fleet, equipment, and machinery.
- Provides leadership to foster professional growth and build staff morale within the Facilities and other operations departments.
- Available for security and emergency alarm callbacks at all times.
