Position Summary:
We are seeking a results-driven Director of Human Resources to lead the HR function at Jones Logistics, a fast-paced, growth-focused transportation company. As a key member of the leadership team, this role will be responsible for overseeing all HR functions, including compliance, recruiting and onboarding, and employee relations. Fostering a strong performance culture and ensuring operational excellence in all HR functions will be key focuses as well.
This role requires transportation or logistics industry experience and a deep understanding of the workforce complexities that come with geographically dispersed operations, hourly and salaried team members, and evolving compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the CEO and executive team by executing a people strategy that supports our business objectives and values.
- Serve as a strategic advisor on organizational design, talent management, and workforce planning.
- Support driver retention strategies and frontline employee engagement across terminals and fleet operations.
- Collaborate closely with Safety, Operations, and Compliance to ensure a clear focus on requirements in a DOT-regulated environment.
- Oversee full-cycle talent acquisition strategies to attract top talent in operations, logistics, and leadership.
- Champion a high-performance culture rooted in safety, accountability, and engagement.
- Design and oversee employee engagement strategies and action plans based on feedback and surveys.
- Support a benefits strategy designed to improve attraction and retention.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and transportation-specific regulations.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 8-10 years of progressive HR leadership experience.
- Minimum of 3 years in the transportation, logistics, or supply chain industry.
- Experience managing a multi-site workforce with both hourly and salaried employees.
- Deep understanding of employment law, labor relations, and safety compliance requirements.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and management-level presentation skills.
Preferred
- SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or similar certification.
