Job Overview
We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Staff Accountant/Payroll Specialist to join our growing restaurant group. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional who wants to build a strong foundation in accounting and payroll while contributing to a high-performing, team-oriented environment.
You'll handle payroll processing, assist with financial reporting, support administrative operations, and help streamline key business processes that keep our restaurants running smoothly.
Key responsibilities
- Process biweekly payroll for approximately 350 employees including tips, bonuses, and adjustments.
- Maintain accurate employee records for onboarding, raises, promotions, terminations, and PTO reporting.
- Prepare and file sales tax returns for multiple restaurant locations.
- Compile and summarize credit card expenses in Excel and post journal entries into QuickBooks.
- Generate weekly reports for management, including cash over/short, labor hours, minors' hours, performance metrics, etc.
- Collaborate with our external bookkeeping team to support month-end close activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency by documenting and refining workflows
- Perform other administrative and accounting tasks as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage high-volume payroll processing accurately.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, OneDrive, and QuickBooks (or eager to learn quickly).
- Analytical thinker with solid problem-solving and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and a positive, professional attitude.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and pass a background check.
- Education: Bacherlor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience). College graduates encouraged to apply.
