Location: Joint Relief Institute - Oak Brook/Northbrook
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour (dependent on experience)
Responsibilities:
- Answer patient phone calls related to billing, insurance coverage, payments, and account questions.
- Discuss insurance benefits, coverage, and costs with patients in person or by phone.
- Adjust and allocate patient accounts as needed based on insurance payments and patient responsibility.
- Apply patient payments to accounts accurately and in a timely manner.
- Review patient statements for accuracy before mailing.
- Send out medical records to requesting facilities while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Work on assigned reports provided by the supervisor, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude and collaborate with coworkers and departments.
- Stay up to date with billing policies, insurance procedures, and HIPAA regulations.
- Assist in other departments when needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Understanding and working knowledge of the Claim Revenue Cycle.
- Experience in medical billing, coding, or high-volume processing is preferred.
- Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail to ensure accuracy of information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with a variety of individuals, patients, providers, clinical staff, business office personnel, and insurance companies.
- Ability to clearly communicate and apply policies and principles to solve daily challenges and handle a variety of situations.
- Proven analytical skills, with the ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
- Knowledgeable in MS Suite programs including Excel, Word, Outlook and Analytics Reporting.
- Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus!
